Outstanding A Level Results (16/08/2007)

Students at the College of West Anglia enjoyed excellent A Level results today, 16th August 2007. The college achieved an overall pass rate of 92.9%.

Publication of the A/AS levels results for the summer 2007, showed big increases in the overall number of exam entries and the numbers of students gaining A to C grades. The results were particularly good with 903 exam entries, 309 more than last year, more students than ever before! Furthermore, achievement of higher A-C grades was 51.7%.

Head of Faculty for Humanities and Science, Richard Bradley, said: “We are proud of our student’s achievements. This reflects in the hard work and commitment of our students and the high quality of teaching and learning in our college. I would like to congratulate all our students and staff on their success.

“We are pleased with the high number of subjects achieving 100% pass rate and particularly pleased that over half of our A Level students achieved higher A to C grades, as this means more students will be accepted into their first choice of college or university as well as having better job opportunities”.

Amongst the college success stories is Joshua Butler of Wisbech Cambridgeshire, who achieved straight A’s at A Level, in film studies, media studies, English language and literature. Joshua is intending to read film with English studies at the University of East Anglia.

In addition, Mark Brown from Narborough, Norfolk, achieved ‘A’ grades in math’s and ICT and a grade ‘B’ in physics and intends to read Law at the University of East Anglia. Other exceptional students are Jiawei Zhuang an International student from China achieved 5 grade ‘A’ at AS Level in math’s, further maths, chemistry, biology and physics. Megan Drew of Wisbech, achieved 3 grade ‘A’ at AS Level in psychology, math’s, biology and a grade ‘B’ in chemistry. Louise Pifferro of Litcham achieved 3 straight A’s at AS level in history, maths and English language and literature.
