The College Signs the Skills Pledge! (11/01/08)
The Skills Pledge is a voluntary, public commitment by an organisation to support all its employees to develop their basic skills, including literacy and numeracy and work towards relevant qualifications to at least Level 2. The purpose is to ensure that all staff are skilled, competent and able to make a full contribution to the success of the organisation.
The College of West Anglia Assistant Principal for Employer Engagement Mark Reavell and David Lammy, Minister for Skills in the new Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills, signed the Skills Pledge at the Queen Elizabeth Conference Centre in London. The college fully supports the Government's strategy of gaining employers commitment to train their employees and develop work related skills.
Mark Reavell said, "The college is one of the major employers in the region as well as being the largest training provider. We are pleased to be able to sign the Skills Pledge and show our determination to help improve the skills of local people through work-based training opportunities".
If any employers are interested in discussing training for their staff please contact the college on 01553 691001 or email cwabusiness@col-westanglia.ac.uk
