Use it or Lose it (04/09/07)

Support Your Local Learning Centre

The College had to take the regrettable decision to close a number of its local learning centres at the end of July this year. However, it was felt that the Priory Learning Centre in Downham Market Centre is an important part of the community and has been given the opportunity to continue offering learning opportunities despite the difficulties of reduced funding for adult learners.

In order for the Centre to be successful we need to get the message “use it or lose it” out to the local community. There is a real threat that the Centre could close at the end of July 2008 if it is not utilised.

The College are doing as much as we can to promote the Centre and on Wednesday 5 September 2007 between 17.00hrs and 20.00 we are opening the Centre for everyone to view the excellent facilities that the Centre can provide for local business and community groups. This will also highlight how the Centre has developed over the past year with regard to the different types of course that now take place.

The Mayor of King's Lynn and West Norfolk, the Mayor and Mayoress of Downham Market and the Deputy Mayor and Mayoress of Downham Market have confirmed attendance and invitations have gone out the all Downham Town Councillors.
