Apprenticeship Awards

College Apprentices and their employers scored a huge success at the East of England Apprenticeship Awards on 9th May, collecting no fewer than 6 of the 21 awards.

Chad Hogben (pictured above) an apprentice with Lysander Estates, a construction company, won the Personal Achiever of the Year award, while Matthew Summers from King’s Lynn, an electro-technical apprentice with Dodd Group, Eastern Region, was Highly Commended in the Advanced Apprentice of the Year category.

A number of employers who work in partnership with the College were also successful in a number of categories: Medium Employer of the Year – Winner: Kings and Barnum (electrical services) Micro Employer of the Year - Highly Commended: Bliss (hairdressing), Boldero & Filby (hairdressing) Small Employer of the Year – Highly Commended: Mitchell and Rollins (plumbing).

The Apprenticeship Awards, called Bright Sparks 08, is designed to reward employers in the region who successfully use Apprenticeships to improve their business and to recognise the achievements of people currently on, or who have recently completed, an Apprenticeship. The College is the largest local provider of Apprenticeships and works with employers across Norfolk and Cambridgeshire, providing training for hundreds of Apprentices each year.

All the winners and highly commended names will now go forward to the national judging process, and the winners will be announced at an event in London on 10th July.
