Outstanding College Leader (02/11/2007)

The College of West Anglia’s former Principal, Peter Stewart now retired, attended a prestigious London event for the Further Education sector, the Star Awards. Peter was nominated and short listed in the category for outstanding leadership.

He said ‘he regards it as a great honour to have been nominated but to be a good leader you need a good team and the College of West Anglia is full of excellent people and they are the engine of the college.’

The event was held at the historic Church House in the grounds of Westminster Abbey, a fitting venue to celebrate the success of staff in further education.

The nomination by Jill Francis Executive Director cited Peter for his leadership of the most improved college in the country, recognised by OFSTED. The college success rates place them now as one of the best in the country. In addition, the nomination was in recognition of outstanding leadership skills displayed in the merger of the College of West Anglia with the Isle College in Wisbech.

At the ceremony Peter received a certificate in recognition of his achievement. The category winners will be announced at the National STAR Awards Ceremony at Old Billingsgate in London on Monday 26 November.
