Isle Campus Catwalk Show 2009 (09/06/2009)
Shows on Wednesday 17th June, Thursday 18th June and Friday 19th June at 12 noon and 7.30 pm
Fashion students from The College of West Anglia, Isle Campus, once again showcase their work on the catwalk! Designers on the BTEC National Diploma in Fashion & Clothing and Foundation Degree in Fashion Design and Production will be presenting their creative and inspiring work, an exciting fun and funky mix of fashion collections to be viewed.
Both first and second year students have spent the last nine months working intensively and professionally to produce inspired and creative collections. Making a big splash on the catwalk are the final major collections of this years graduates, who have developed personal collections that are aimed at the contemporary fashion market. This years show looks to start the summer, with a deep insight into new trends and alternative directions for the forthcoming seasons. This year, the catwalk will see; White Linens, Country Garden Dresses, Indian Spice embellished bodices, Rainforest Hats, Singing in the Rain – Trench coats and Arts and Crafts pastel linens, the Fashion Challenge and much, much more.

The BTEC National Diploma in Fashion & Clothing course has gained national and international recognition through student success in competitions, and is the only course of its kind in the region. The course integrates Fashion Design, Illustration, Pattern Cutting, Garment Construction and Textiles, including evening wear, sportswear and menswear. The course is unique in the region and attracts students from a fifty mile radius, it’s never too late to learn – we have students aged 16 to 65!
The show is organised and produced by the Fashion staff and students, with models from various departments within the Isle Campus. The creative hair and make-up will be designed by fashion students. Topstitch Fabrics have been our sponsors for this year.
Laura Pettitt from Warboys a second year National Diploma Fashion and Clothing student said, “Working as part of a team to see our achievements of the last year on the catwalk, has been a great experience I will never forget”.
Sally Stillingfleet Fashion Lecturer commented, “We will see a huge range of exciting collections from casual white linens, structured trench coats and colourful garden dresses and a fantastic array of final major projects by second year students – we are all very proud of their achievements which compare to the catwalks of London and Paris”.
