"Febru-hairy 2010" (10/02/2010)

Students well and truly had a strip torn off them when they went through the pain barrier to raise cash for charity. Members of the pre-uniformed services team put their bravery to the test when they volunteered to help their colleagues in the hair and beauty department launch a week-long campaign at the Isle Campus.
The students were all raising money for Sue Ryder Care and have dubbed the week “Febru-hairy” – which some of them definitely were not as the wax strips got to work. The scary hairstyles and make-up of the girls wielding the wax helped to dull some of the pain, but there were tears in the eyes of at least one pre-uniformed services student as the hairs on his legs were swiftly removed.
Despite the agony, the event was a success for both the level 2 beauty therapy students and those planning a career in the armed forces or the police.
