Motor Sport Boost from Adrian Flux (21/10/09)

Motor Sports get a High Octane Boost from Adrian Flux

The College of West Anglia, Isle Campus Motor Sports Course is to receive support from East Winch based Adrian Flux Insurance Services in the form of sponsorship.

Adrian Flux Insurances Services will be presenting a cheque to the motorsports students and staff on Thursday 24th September at the Isle Campus, Wisbech in the Motor Sports Workshop F11 at 3.30pm. The sponsorship of £1000 will be used to help prepare the single seater vehicles (Formula Renault, Formula Ford and Formula V) for racing in the ‘South East Motor Sport Enthusiast Club’ (SEMSEC), the next race meeting will take place at Lydden Hill, Kent on October 24th, whereby Chris Middleton Lecturer will compete in the Formula Ford single seater.

John Suckling, Motor Sports lecturer said, “We are now looking to compete with the cars that are prepared by the students. In an attempt to keep the experience as close to running a real race team as possible, it was decided that we would have a corporate image, with overalls and shirts worn by the students and staff, both in the workshops and at race meetings. Adrian Flux’s sponsorship will help to fund this as well as contributing toward car parts. They have also offered our students special insurance deals and advise on insurance matters”.

Gerry Bucke General Manager commented, “Adrian Flux's sponsorship of the Motor sport course at the college is a natural one for the company, based at East Winch, we are very committed to our East Anglia roots. Hopefully our support will enable the students to race the cars they work on and see all their efforts put into practice”.

The college has been running Motor Sport courses at level 2 and level 3 for the last two years. This has continually grown each year to over 50 students this year. We now have students coming from as far as Thetford and Norwich. For the future we propose to include a foundation degree level course in Motor Sport.
