The Employer Role

In agreeing to place an eligible employee on an Apprenticeship you are agreeing to the following:

To ensure that the learner is supported and guided throughout the training process

To allow the learner to attend college as scheduled

To comply with and ensure that the learner is aware of Health and Safety regulations and Equal Opportunities legislation and issues and inform the Work Based Learning department of any learner accident or work-related illness.

To identify opportunities for the learner to practice skills and develop competency and support them to achieve their learning plan within the planned timescale.

To conduct a company induction for the new learner (to include an introduction to the organisation and to colleagues, tour of buildings and facilities, terms and conditions ie working hours, lunch breaks, holiday entitlement, sickness, absence and disciplinary procedures, emergency evacuation procedures, accident reporting, first aid procedures, the issue of personal protective clothing (where applicable) and instruction on usage/ replacement, fire fighting arrangements, a briefing on the company Health and Safety Policy and safe systems of work and a briefing on the company Equal Opportunities Policy)

To contribute to the development and update of the Individual Learning Plan and support the learner in achieving the qualifications specified within the timescale agreed.

To contribute to the review process – allowing sufficient time to carry out the review, outlining views on the progress of the learner, and identifying any areas of concern and agreeing ways to address them.

To inform the Training Adviser immediately if the trainee is absent, or likely to be absent, from work for 3 weeks or more.

To allow authorised personnel of the College of West Anglia and the regulating authorities and inspection bodies, access to relevant individuals for the purposes of assessment, Internal and External verification and Inspection
