Frequently Asked Questions
When should I apply to college?
There's no time like the present! We can accept applications for courses right up until the start of September, however many of our courses are popular and fill up early on in the year, so it is best to apply as soon as you can.
Can I apply for more than one course?
Yes. You can apply and be interviewed for more than one course if you are unsure of what you would like to do. Once you have been offered places you will need to decide which you would like to accept.
I am having problems filling in the relevant forms for applying to college, financial help and transport. Can I get help with this?
Contact student services who will be more than happy to help you fill in any forms related to coming to college. Don't forget, we are open all year round.
I have applied for a course but changed my mind. What should I do?
Contact student services at the campus you have applied to. They will be able to advise you on alternative courses or withdraw your application.
What do I need to do once I've been offered a place?
You will need to look into transport details for getting to college, fees and financial help information and equipment that you may need.
What happens if I don't get the grades I need?
We hold results clinics in August for anyone that may be concerned with their grades. We also have information evenings at the start of September.
I have started a course but it isn't what I was expecting. Can I change course?
Yes, depending on the circumstances it may be possible to transfer early in the first term. Come to student services and talk to a student advisor who will be able to help you.
I am unsure what course to do. Can you help me decide?
The college holds open days at various times during the year where staff from all areas are available to talk to and discuss the courses offered. Otherwise, you can book in with a student advisor to discuss the options available to you.
What do I need to bring to my interview?
All applicants are asked to bring predicted grades/previous results and any work experience reports. Any further requirements will be detailed in your interview letter.
When will I have to pay my fees?
Fees must be paid on enrolment. During induction week your tutor will inform you of the date that you will be enrolling. This is normally within the first few weeks of the course. There are several ways to get financial help.
What about part time courses?
Only some part time courses are available to students aged under 19 and this also depends on whether you are already in full time education. Please contact student services for more details.
