Case Study - Alex Street
Alex is currently studying the National Diploma in Sport and came to college “to get more qualifications and study at further education level in order to achieve long term goals”.
After he has finished this course Alex plans to go to America for a 4 year scholarship in football or continue his studies at university.
Alex says “the best thing about coming to the College of West Anglia is playing football for the academy and the range of sports that is available”. I would say to anyone thinking about coming to college to “make the most of the opportunities and participate in as much sport as possible”.
Alex receives Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA) funding, which can be up to £30 per week paid directly into your bank account. He says “this has helped immensely with financial security while studying at the College of West Anglia, I try to save as much money as I can for unplanned events, but I have used this extra cash for new football equipment, various pieces of kit and of course, text books”.
Alex currently plays in goal for the England Colleges football team and has been awarded Sports Student of The Year 2009 from the College of West Anglia.
