Case Study - Joe Menarry

Joe Menarry has already completed his apprenticeship in engineering and is now in the first year of an advanced apprenticeship. He is employed by Stainless Metalcraft (Chatteris) Ltd, who are supporting him through his apprenticeship.

Joe has been selected for the WorldSkills 2010 welding championships – the first time the College of West Anglia has entered one of its apprentices for this competition. The initial stage will be at a regional competition centre and Joe will be expected to produce four weld test pieces. The practical competition, which takes the form of a one-day test, starts in February and, if successful, Joe will represent the UK in the finals. The selected finalist will undergo intensive training at an advanced master craft welder-training centre.
