CITB SkillBuild 2017 successes for CWA
The College of West Anglia hosted CITB Skillbuild 2017 yesterday, with awards being presented to new entrants and seniors in bricklaying, carpentry, joinery, painting & decorating, and plastering.
CWA students excelled in the competition, with Rudyard Richeda taking second place in the painting and decorating senior competition, Sam Schoenmakers scoring home third place from the joinery seniors, and Sam Bizley ranking second from the senior bricklayers. However, it was in the senior carpentry competition and bricklaying new entrants where Jack Godrum and Connor Peck excelled, taking home respective first places.
SkillBuild is the UK’s biggest construction skills competition and has been running for more than 45 years. The senior competition is designed for those who are studying a minimum of NVQ level 2 in their chosen craft occupation, and they may have the opportunity to progress to the National Final. The new entrant competition is designed for students in their first year of training, or for those studying for a diploma or similar introductory qualification.
The national final is a three-day competition and currently held as part of the Skills Show at the NEC Birmingham.
