Applewood Nursery Opens New Multi-Sensory Experience for Youngsters

Applewood Nursery opened its brand-new sensory room last week to create a calmer and extra stimulating indoor environment for youngsters.

The new room has been kitted out with an array of lights, from disco balls to different-shaped objects that engage the youngsters’ senses. Cushions, blankets and rugs have given the room a cosy and homely feel, too. The nursery manager, Martyna Collins, wanted to create a calming, yet engaging environment for the children, especially those with special educational needs, to come and relax in.

The new sensory room is just one of the brand-new facilities on offer at the nursery, following on from the garden makeover in October. The garden now includes a vegetable patch and a sensory herb garden. There are also spaces for natural materials, such as sand, where youngsters can sit and play.

Nursery manager, Martyna Collins, said: “We are delighted to open the new sensory room. While especially suitable for our children with special educational needs, it also encourages all children to engage with their senses, while providing a calm environment for them to relax in.”

Applewood Nursery offers a caring and safe environment for children aged from 2 months to 5 years old. For more information, contact Martyna Collins, on 01553 815348.
