Amber Jaye Claxton

Nursing and Paramedic Academy

Amber went to school at the Iceni Academy in Methwold and chose to study at the College of West Anglia because “the nursing and paramedic academy sounded like the best course to help me achieve what I wanted in life.”

Amber said: “I enjoyed studying at college as the course was structured to be more healthcare based. The course also allowed us to go on various work placements, which helped me gain more confidence and a place at university. I would recommend studying at CWA as it is a great experience and really helps you to grow as a person.”

Amber is currently studying an Operating Department Practice (ODP) degree at the University of Bedfordshire.

Hayley Clarke

Nursing and Paramedic Academy

Hayley previously attended Downham Market Academy and came to CWA as “they were the only college to offer the nursing and paramedic academy. I also wanted the opportunity of work placements and the course offered a variety of units to study”.

Hayley said: “I enjoyed being at college as it gave me the opportunity to make friends with people who had the same interests and wanted a similar career path to me. The units I studied on anatomy and physiology were my favourite as they were the most specific to the subject I wanted to study at university.”

Hayley is currently studying a foundation degree in paramedic science at St George’s University of London. This involves learning theory in the classroom but also time on the ambulances learning practical skills and patient care.
