Stepping Out (Care and Childhood) - Entry Level

COURSE DESCRIPTION

These foundation learning tier courses provide the progression pathways for young people who have yet to achieve the required grades to study fully and as independent learners in their chosen vocational area. In addition the skills developed will help to enable young people to enter adult life as confident and capable individuals.
Course content will include
- Vocational study day (within chosen area)
- Functional skills - maths and English
- BTEC / Edexcel Vocational Studies - Certificate
- Personal study skills - enrichment activities

QUALIFICATION DETAILS

- City and Guilds functional skills - maths and English - BTEC/EdExcel Certificate - Vocational Studies - Relevant vocational qualification gained on the vocational day



Students aged 16 to 18 who do not already have GCSE qualifications in maths and/or English at grades 4 (C) - 9 (A*) will take qualifications in English and/or maths as part of their vocational study programme - this is a government requirement.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

A willingness to succeed and improve grades. Students entering this programme will need to have achieved at entry 3.

ASSESSMENT DETAILS

The course is assessed through a range of methods that include project work, assignments and the compilation of a portfolio. All work is internally verified and subject to external verification by the relevant awarding bodies. Functional skills will be assessed by portfolio or examination.
